“Very impressed – cozy, warm vibe set in the middle of nowhere but completely worth the drive. Food was delicious and service was impeccable. Knocked it out of the park for a first impression. Looking forward to going back.” -Jamie G.
“A truly unique and magnificent place. Great ambience, food and don’t forget to take some bread home. I have been coming here for well over 30 years and love each and every trip.” -Fernando T.
Great food, awesome atmosphere, and wonderful view! If you find yourself there during the winter, a roaring fire in the bar area greets you in a rustic and welcoming setting. Salad bar is fresh, the steaks and chicken dishes are awesome, and BE SURE to save room for dessert!” -Matt D.
“What we have here is a very special place. Not exactly on the beaten path, yet in a beautiful part of the State. The food is excellent. The menu covers all the bases, but we opted for ribeye steaks. Cannot remember the last time we had such a good piece of beef. It was prepared exactly as requested. The onion soup was fantastic. The salad bar is fresh, and the dressings are homemade. And many of the desserts are also homemade. The setting is rustic: deer antler fixtures, much greenery, and to my mind a bit of an Adirondack feel. Although nothing to do with food, one other aspect of this old inn that really stood out was the atmosphere that seemed to pervade the place – everyone was really happy to be there. There were patrons of all ages, and a hardworking, friendly professional staff. Do yourself a favor if you are not familiar with the Wallpack area, and call for directions. You will be given exact direction by mile, and landmark. We highly recommend, and will be back.” -SJT
“From the cheesy onion soup, fresh salad bar, brown bread, excellent cut of steak you won’t be disappointed. Top it off with the yummiest peach pie and you are in heaven. Enjoyed the view and the rustic decor. Can’t wait to go back.” -Irene K.
“The food served at this restaurant is not only top notch but so is the atmosphere. The portions are generous and the service is great. This is a nice place to bring the family. It’s also a great place to celebrate a special occasion. The views from the Greenhouse dining room are spectacular, and you can view the deer being fed daily from your table.”– Tony G.
“It is very rare to find a restaurant with amazing food, service, and ambience. Walpack Inn offers all three. It was our first visit but we plan on coming back again!”-Melissa I.
“Friends of mine had asked me to come to the Walpack Inn for the past 25 years… I never made it. 3 years ago I made it! Now it is one of my favorite places ever! We come as often as possible and we just spent our second New Year’s Eve there for dinner… Jim and Lee are so incredibly gracious and their passion for the Walpack Inn is second to none! Food and atmosphere … spectacular! So glad I finally made it after so long!” -Jimmy L.
“Me and my husband are world travelers and have been to so many fine restaurants in our lifetime. But the Walpack Inn is in my HEART. I think mostly because this quaint but beautiful Inn is nestled within the foothills of Sussex County surrounded by the most beautiful landscape you can imagine. The Inn brings people and nature together with deer feeding in the fields in the evening right outside the Inn’s windows for all to see. The large stone fireplace with large pieces of wood piled up on both sides makes for some good foot resting while sipping something hot or cold. It’s a beautiful relaxing Country Inn that can very easily warm your heart. After all the years of going there I finally met the owner Jim. His heart is as warm as the beautiful fireplace he created many many years ago. I will continue going to the Walpack because it brings me a sense of peace and relaxation like no other place can offer.” -Sheryl C.
“Took a chance after the Walpack Inn came highly recommended. I am so glad we did. We went for a special night out for my husbands 55th birthday. The food was great and the service and atmosphere were impeccable. From the salad bar, dinner and drinks, dessert and deer watching, it made for a fabulous evening. We’re already talking about our next visit. Thank you Walpack Inn!” – Dawn H.
