In 1949 neither Louise nor Adam Heigis would ever have guessed they would end up in the restaurant business. But when health problems dictated that Adam needed to retire, these two Bergen County residents looked to family ties in Sussex County. News of a little restaurant for sale in Walpack seemed like the perfect solution. Voila! My father lived his entire life in Iowa. When I moved to New Jersey in 1975,he came for the first of many visits. He wasn’t too thrilled that his daughter was living so far from home but he warmed to the idea after a wonderful dinner at the Walpack Inn.
