The Inn’s History

1949 Inn

In 1949 neither Louise nor Adam Heigis would ever have guessed they would end up in the restaurant business. But when health problems dictated that Adam needed to retire, these two Bergen County residents looked to family ties in Sussex County. News of a little restaurant for sale in Walpack seemed like the perfect solution. Voila! Lousie brought her great cooking skills and Adam his expertise at the bar (more often on the other side of it!). read more here….

Customer Testimonial

Dear Mr. Jim Heigis;

My father lived his entire life in Iowa.  When I moved to New Jersey in 1975,he came for the first of many visits. He wasn’t too thrilled that his daughter was living so far from home but he warmed to the idea after a wonderful dinner at the Walpack Inn.  From then on no visit was complete without a meal at the Walpack Inn.  Read more here…

“Take a ride through the countryside” to reach this “scenic” Traditional American in Wallpack Center where you might spot “deer outside the window” from the “rustic, cabin-style” dining area, and “attentive” service brightens the “wonderful ambiance”; the “hearty” menu has an “emphasis on steaks”, and “amazing” homemade bread helps make it a “must-visit”.
